Today was our first snowfall and as per our tradition, it's time to stop everything and make a paper snowflake- after playing outside, of course! This is not something I carry in my talent bag and so I needed a step by step guide. Maybe you do as well!
A great way to tie in some literature and nature with this craft is to read Snowflake Bentley, the true story of Wilson A. Bentley who studied snowflakes by producing microphotographs for fifty years! He is the reason we know so much about snow, how it's formed and how snowflakes usually have 6 sides. He is also why we know each snowflake is unique, just like our children. Yes, you can tie in a character lesson as well!
I hope this helps you in your snowflake making endeavors! Let me know how they turned out!
Here are links to the books we love about snow! Enjoy!
