We're studying animals in anticipation of our upcoming visit to the big zoo! This will be the first time for both my babies to visit a large scale zoo. We thought they'd enjoy some animal exploration before we go so they'll have some background and it won't be so overwhelming. I added some wild animal books into our preschool Montessori area in our living room to employ curiosity and I also made these quick little picture cars. I wanted to share my cards with you so you can use them with your kiddos as well.
Little ones are still focused on Mommy and Baby relationships and so I thought the best way to get my preschooler playing with animals and looking at them was through these Mommy/Baby themed animal cards. I tried to include most of the animals she'd see at our local large-scale zoo when we go. She really enjoyed matching up the Mommas with the Babies. And of course, she said they were "So Cute!"
You can download my animals cards here and use them as well!

Montessori is a method about which I'm currently learning. I like the Montessori Preschool model very much! Creating a Montessori style preschool at home can mean putting out learning tools which will interest your child. In this case, we used the animal cards and animal books. It's such a natural way of learning for littles.
However, preparing a Montessori style preschool environment does mean preparing a space of interest, but it doesn't stop there. I'll be posting more about what it means to do Montessori Preschool at home. So if you're interested, please stay tuned! It's way easier and more practical than I ever thought it could be! We have been incorporating Montessori style learning throughout this school year- slowly. We are really enjoying it!
