Here on our little Georgia homestead, things are getting kinda creepy lately- creepy- crawly, that is! We're having a blast learning about insects. I love theme teaching because I can tie all kinds of things into and don't need to dig for motivation from my kids. They are already motivated by the theme!
I found a great little insect unit on TPT. (I don't currently have one made up! ) That is something I need to make. I'm adding things to it and using things as well. We're choosing an envelope with a fact card about an insect each time we've learned all we can learn about the current one. That adds excitement! Learning with depth is better than covering and it helps motivate both me and my girls.
The graphic here is a map I made for Roo to tie in some early kindergarten geography. I outlined the map with a marker for her to begin to see the shapes of the continents. Butterflies live on all continents except Antarctica so it was an easy thing for her to color these and get used to seeing their shapes. :)
